Shonan CORUN New Energy Co., Ltd., formerly a subsidiary of Panasonic in Japan specializing in automotive power battery production, was fully acquired by Hunan CORUN New Energy Co., Ltd. on May 1, 2011. Since 1992, the company has been collaborating with global leading hybrid car manufacturers in developing nickel-metal hydride batteries. In 1997, it began mass production for the Toyota PRIUS, and in 1998, it supplied batteries for the Honda INSIGHT and CIVIC models.
