Founded on August 18, 2008, Hunan Copower EV Battery Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hunan CORUN New Energy Co., Ltd. Dedicated to the research and development, production, and sales of automotive power batteries and energy packs, the company possesses key technologies and independent intellectual property rights in this field. It is the only local enterprise in China with the technical capability for “nickel-metal hydride battery plates”. These plates are extensively used in HEV models of international automakers. The company ranks among the top three globally in terms of HEV power battery technology. It is an internationally professional automotive power battery and energy pack manufacturer with the highest level of industrialization, the most advanced technology, the most mature product applications, and the strongest supporting supply capacity in China.

In addition, Hunan CPEV is involved in several projects under the national 863 program and is recognized as a demonstration enterprise in the National Base Strengthening Project. In 2015, it was awarded the title of Smart Manufacturing Demonstration Enterprises in Hunan Province.

In 2022, its "Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery (CHR600D5E0)" was selected for the Upgraded and Innovative Consumer Goods Guide of the Consumer Goods Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (Light Industry, the 9th batch).

In 2023, it was recognized as a 2022 National Quality Benchmark by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; It was listed as one of the fifth batch of specialized and new “Little Giant” enterprises.
